Job Description - Billing and Job Cost Accounting Manager
(Specialist)Classification: ExemptReports to: Senior
ControllerPrimary Function: This is a highly visible position that
interacts with all levels from the executive office and field
management. The successful candidate will be able to quickly shift
from processing routine transactions to providing high-level
analysis coupled with the ability to uncover process improvements.
The successful candidate will be skilled at streamlining internal
processes to better serve our customers. Candidates must have
demonstrated the ability to interface with all levels of our
organization, clients, and vendors.Essential Functions:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the Company's billing and
timekeeping department and staff.
- Ensuring the timely and accurate invoicing of customers per
contract terms.
- Monitoring the aging of the Company's receivables and
maintaining open communication with appropriate customer staff
regarding past due receivables.
- Managing the reporting of KPI and business metrics, as
required, to internal and external users.
- The review and distribution of job cost reports, calling
attention to projects not meeting expected gross profit
margins.
- Creating, posting, and monitoring journal entries and
accruals.
- Performing accounting month-end closing activities with a
special focus on job cost and revenue accruals.
- Responsible for developing & ensuring data accuracy and process
adherence. Accounts, Job set-ups, etc.
- Responsible for measuring and improving overall billing
accuracy, jobs closing activities, and Lump Sum billing.
- Preparing actionable reporting and analysis to support the
company's financial closings and internal/external reporting
processes and to ensure the reliability of reported results.
- Responsible for measurements and reporting cadence for
corporate and field operations.
- Communicating with colleagues at various locations to resolve
issues closing discrepancies and follow through with appropriate
action.
- Responsible for monitoring Accounts Receivable and working
directly with external customers to resolve past-due
obligations.
- Recommending, developing, and implementing changes to
continually improve processes, support standardization, and the
overall effectiveness of the Finance and Accounting Services
team.
- Ensuring all schedules and deadlines are met on time and
accurately following Service Level Agreements.
- Documenting policies, procedures, workflow, and checklists for
assigned responsibilities.

Responsibilities:This position may have direct supervisory
responsibilities for Billing Specialists and Timekeepers; indirect
supervision of other departmental members. Position may be elevated
to a managerial level depending upon experience and education of
candidate.Required Education and Experience:
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite - particularly MS Excel.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with other groups.
- Capable of working independently and managing multiple
priorities; must be a self-starter and take the initiative in
completing projects and assignments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the
ability to share knowledge at appropriate levels of the
organization.
- Customer-focused with strong attention to detail; capable of
delivering accurate, quality results on time.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to interact
comfortably and respectfully with all levels of plant and corporate
personnel. Proven ability to successfully manage and resolve
conflict politely and professionally.
- Strong analytical skills to identify KPIs and address
improvement opportunities.
- Experience in selecting, managing, and developing
high-performing teams.
- Experience with construction accounting software preferred,
with Sage Intact a plus.Preferred Education and Experience:
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in
accounting or finance, or any equivalent combination of related
education and experience. Preference in the construction industry a
plus.
- At least two (2) years of supervisory experience strongly
preferred.Work Environment:This job operates in a professional
office environment. This role routinely uses standard office
equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is

hear.Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time
position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 am to
5 pm.Travel:May be required to travel to Marquis job
sites/projects, as needed.Work Authorization:
