  • The Charge Nurse is responsible for the smooth and efficient patient flow within the hospital.
  • Delegates assignments and provides supervision for the support staff in accordance with their level of training and the patients acuity.
  • Works in cooperation with medical providers to ensure the quality of patient care.

    • Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare technologies.
    • Knowledge of theories, principles, and techniques of nursing as applied to a variety of health needs and practices.
    • Current trends and practices in professional nursing.
    • Preventive medicine in the context of services provided at CIH.
    • Treatment, prevention, and early detection of conditions communicable diseases, chronic diseases, and handicapping conditions.
    • Respiratory therapy within the scope of practice of an RN.
    • EKG and telemetry monitoring.

    • Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
    • Operates a wide variety of standards and specialized patient care equipment.
    • Oversees patient/resident safe handling policies and procedures.

        • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
        • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
        • Conduct audits, monitor performance metrics, and implement corrective actions to improve patient care and outcomes.
        • Monitor patient flow and manage staffing levels to optimize care delivery.
        • Oversee admissions, transfers, and discharges effectively.
        • Lead response efforts during emergencies, ensuring safety for patients and staff.
        • Assess patient conditions and prioritize care based on severity and needs.
        • Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and standards of care.
        • Effectively problem solves for self and other personnel on shift.
        • Ensures medication orders and medication stock are UTD.
        • Ensures supplies have been ordered and UTD.
        • Compiles chart audits to ensure all information is updated in the medical record.
        • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
        • Assists with providing patient/family education if needed as well as addressing and escalating issues as needed.
        • Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
