Job Description:
Help manage the kitchen as needed or designated by executive
chefs and take their place when they're not present.Key
Responsibilities:
- Uphold the high standards of 24 Carrots' handbook and
policies
- Represent and uphold 24 Carrots' core values: Trustworthiness,
Collaboration, Service Excellence, and Dedication
- Maintain order, discipline, safety, and organization in the
kitchen
- Manage non-supervisory positions in the kitchen department
- Ensure cooks stay on task and work effectively
- Maintain order and discipline with the cooks
- Conduct disciplinary action when necessary
- Understand federal, state, and local kitchen health and safety
standards
- Ensure compliance with industry food safety standards
- Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment
- Work with special food handling requirements for certain
dishes
- Prepare and serve food according to the restaurant's
standards
- Read and understand banquet event orders
- Help with prep, oversee tastings, and order produce
- Organize and oversee social prep cooks and ensure food meets 24
Carrots' standards
- Fill in for all kitchen positions wherever help is needed
- Check out lead chefs for events and ensure they have all
necessary food items and equipmentSupervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise kitchen staff members
- Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with 24 Carrots'
policies, handbook, and applicable laws
- Oversee and direct employees, address complaints, and solve
problems
- Communicate job expectations, plan, monitor, and appraise job
results
- Coach, counsel, and discipline employees
- Develop, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, procedures,
and productivity standardsRequirements:

- California Food Handler's card requiredEducation and/or
Experience:
- 2-4 years related experience and/or training
- California Food Handler's card required within 30 days of
hire
- Reliable transportation and clean driving record

- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure
manuals
- Effectively present information and respond to
questionsMathematical Skills:
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of
measure
- Compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar
graphsReasoning Ability:
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete
variables
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral,
diagram, or schedule formPhysical Demands:
- Frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel,

- Regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather
conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat
- Occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts,
high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and
vibration
- Loud noise levels
- Occasionally requires work exceeding 40 hours per week and
flexibility to start and end shifts on little to no notice
